3 New Ways of Doing Motherhood

June 30, 20226 min read

As mothers, we are constantly trying to do right by our children and our families. We are always striving to lead an authentic life that is soul-aligned and heart-centered, while aiming to teach our children these same values. These 3 new ways of doing motherhood have changed my life and will change your life too if you are willing to put in the work and do it.

The first new way of doing motherhood is probably the biggest, most critical piece, and that is discernment. So many of us have the capability to do this effectively, but we allow other people's projections, expectations, guilt, and shame override the internal guidance system that we all have. However, we must remember that it is our discernment, not theirs.

If you allow discernment to guide you, it will change your life and motherhood. You’ll be able to model something so much bigger and powerful for your children and future generations.

There is something we must all understand about discernment. When we are heavily conditioned and used to operating a certain way because we are rewarded for doing so, discernment feels like the slightest tickle. It's this quick feeling of “Hmmm, I don't know about that.”

However, we often don't take the time to sit with that feeling and investigate it. We let logic guide us out of our body wisdom, that is our gut intuition that tells us “This isn’t right for us, there's another way of doing it that is better for our family.”

We're desensitized from that internal guidance system because we're used to using our minds to override the ancient wisdom we all hold.

I believe that every experience we have in life, from the time we were little kids to now, is just an opportunity for us to expand our capacity and discern with greater accuracy. We are all unique souls with very different values and priorities.

What happens is, we get lumped into society's expectation box and become conditioned to their way of thinking. We trade our soul’s needs and desires for acceptance, love, and “you are worthy” stickers from others.

We need to become more conscious about when our mind gets to come on and make a decision and when we're going to allow our innate, internal guidance system to show us a greater truth.

We have to be courageous and brave enough to follow that body wisdom. This may take you a while. You might be more confident in some situations than in others in letting your gut and soul guide you, rather than your mind. It might be scary sometimes. You might feel judged or uneasy and tend to move back to conditioning, because that’s what feels safe to you. I promise, if you stick to it, you'll get to a point where you don’t care what other people think.

Life is too short to fall into societal traps. You have to follow what your soul is telling you to do and raise your kids in the way that you feel is best. At that point, you’ll feel confident knowing that other people’s opinions are not welcome in your life and you’ll do what is best for your family.

The second way of doing motherhood that's going to change the game for you, is to clarify. Discernment leads to clarity when we become more in tune with that innate guidance system and we start to understand what is and isn’t right for us. At that point, we're able to clarify what it is that we truly value and want to prioritize in life.

That clarity can't come fully online until we increase our ability to discern. Once we're clear about what we want, we are able to move in alignment with it and integrate those desires, priorities, and values in our day-to-day life.

The third way of doing motherhood that's going to transform your life is the ability to shed. This process of moving from discernment, to clarity, and now shedding is a beautiful one.

Once we’ve discerned what's for us and not for us, and clarified our priorities and values, we have to be willing to let go of everything that doesn't serve us anymore. We have to be willing to shed the layers and the mask that we wore for so long in order to “fit in” and feel worthy, celebrated, and loved. We have to let it go, because we can’t have both.

You can't be in alignment with all the things you really want in this lifetime while holding onto something that is completely inauthentic in order to feel safe, worthy, or valued. They just don’t match up. You don’t need other people’s permission or praise to live in alignment and authenticity.

Therefore, you have to be willing to shed those expectations and let go of the guilt and shame. Other people’s opinions are not your weight to carry. It might be difficult to do this. It has taken me years of this intentional work to break through all of the layers. With each new layer comes a new challenge, but this refinement process will help you live a life of  joy, alignment, and happiness.

The most important thing about this process is the fact that you are showing your children that it is also safe for them to do this. They see that they can be their true selves in this world. They can be successful, happy, and have people who love them for who they are, not for what they think they are or what they can get from you.

This is the new earth. This is the new way. This is the new paradigm. This is raising the conscious.

These ways are all part of the five tenets We move through inside of The Gateway; a full year experience of collective ascension through our motherhood journey. This is what I support mothers in to help us raise soul-aligned and heart-centered children, because it first starts with us. This is our process of being in alignment so that we can model and pave the path for our children and future generations.

I want you to see yourself differently and feel ready to lead a life that is authentic, soul- aligned, heart-centered, and that shines a light on your gifts and your powers. It’s not just about us. It's about our kids and the future we want, but we must have the bravery and courage to do this work first.
